Our Favorite Rum Cocktails

I think most people know us for our whiskeys and vodkas, especially our cherry products, but not many know that we make two different rums as well; a Silver Reserve Rum and a Dark Reserve Rum. Both are excellent and have notes of butterscotch on the palate making them unique rums. If you're interested in picking up a bottle of either of our rums from our tasting room and you're looking for ideas on how to drink it, we've got some recipes below for you!

Dark & Stormy

This is a pretty straightforward cocktail to make consisting of 3 ingredients: Dark Reserve Rum, lime juice, and ginger beer. If you want to get fancy you can layer the ginger beer on top of the rum, or keep it simple by throwing everything into a glass with some ice.

2 oz Dark Reserve Rum

1/2 oz lime juice

add ice, top with ginger beer, and garnish with a lime wedge

Daiquiri

Unfortunately, the classic Daiquiri doesn't see the light of day more since it's a deliciously refreshing drink. When people think of a Daiquiri they most likely think of a bright red blended fruity and sweet as hell drink, but a classically made Daiquiri is just 3 simple ingredients shaken and strained into a coup glass, with no blender in sight.

2 oz Silver Reserve Rum

1 oz lime juice

3/4 oz demerara simple syrup (you can also use regular sugar to make your simple syrup, the demerara sugar is a warmer sugar tha complements the butterscotch notes in our rum quite nicely).

Throw everything into a shaker with ice, strain into a coupe glass, and garnish with a lime wedge or wheel

Painkiller

The Painkiller is a tiki-style drink and is definitely more fun to make. This is sort of the cool Aunt to the Piña Colada and is sure to make your summer days a bit brighter!

2 oz Dark Reserve Rum

4 oz pineapple juice

1 oz fresh squeezed orange juice

1 oz cream of coconut

Add ingredients into a shaker, strain into a tall glass with ice, and top with a fresh grate of nutmeg and a pineapple wedge
